The Central Men and Women's Golf Teams recently competed in the NCCAA National Tournament in Palm Coast, Florida. Play consisted of 18 holes each day for the men and women, each team looked to start out strong and play well. This was the Second year in a row that the Tigers have sent both Men and Women's teams to the National Tournament.
The Central Men posted a score of 324 on day 1 which would put them in 8th place after the first round. The Tigers were led by sophomore Fisher Kautsch with a 78(+6), followed by Nathan Segler who posted a 79(+7), Matt Rettinger with a 83(+11), Mark-David Ostruske with an 84(+12), and Trehern McGill rounded out the Tigers with a 93(+21).
Day 2 for the Tigers would not fair as good as the first round, the Tigers posted a 334 which kept them in 8th place for the tournament. Fisher Kautsch led the way again with a 81(+9), he was followed by Mark-David Ostruske with an 83(+11), Nathan Segler came in with a 84(+12), Trehern McGill followed him with a 86(+14) and Matt Rettinger posted an 88(+16) to finish the day.
The Tigers posted their best score of the Tournament on Day 3 which was a 316. The Tigers were led in the 3rd round by Senior Matt Rettinger who came in with a 78(+6), followed by a pair of 79's(+7) from Fisher Kautsch and Nathan Segler, Mark-David Ostruske followed them with an 80(+8) and Trehern McGill would come in with an 89(+17).The three days of play for the Men would total 974 which put them finishing in 8th place out of 9 teams. Although it was not the result that they had hoped for, they are feeling confident about where they are going into their Spring season.
On the Women's side, the Lady Tigers put up a 367 which would place them in 7th place after Day 1. The low round for the Tigers belonged to Kendra Jellison and Alyssa Ramirez who came in with 15-over 87's. They were followed by Kari Kirl with a 92(+20), Vanessa Warner with a 101(+29) and Baily Bowman with a 104(+32). The Lady Tigers looked to bounce back with a strong Day 2 performance.
The Women would improve on Day 2, posting a 362 that would keep them at 7th place in the tournament. The second round was led by sophomore Alyssa Ramirez posting a 86(+14). Following her would be Kari Kirl and Vanessa Warner who each came in with an 89(+17), followed by Baily Bowman who shot 98(+26) and Kendra Jellison would come in with a 99(+27).
Day 3 was the best round for the Lady Tigers as well, they improved and shot a 359. They were led by Senior Kendra Jellison with an 81(+9), followed by an 88(+16) from Kari Kirl, then Alyssa Ramirez and Vanessa Warner shot 95(+23) and Baily Bowman with a 107(+35). After the three days, the Lady Tigers would finish with a score of 1,088 which would put them into a tie for 6th place with College of the Ozarks.
The Men's and Women's Golf teams are going to start gearing up for their spring season which will start in February.
