After day 1 of the Prairie Dunes Collegiate the Tiger men's golf team were tied for 6
th. Day 2 however; of the tournament would present a whole different set of challenges.
When the team teed off the wind was 15mph gusting to 25mph out the south with drizzle making scoring difficult. The Tigers struggled to start the round due to a weather conditions and course set up as pin locations on the 1
st 6 holes were difficult. By the middle third of the round the skies began to clear the wind began to calm and the pin locations began to ease and the players began to take advantage of the improving conditions with Paden getting birdies on holes 5 & 7, Mark-David birding #7, and Max closing out the front nine with a birdie.
The back nine would prove to be the better side for the team in round to as a team only shooting 8 over on the back with 5 team birdies. The bounce back play on the back nine did not prove to be enough to overcome the rough start from the front nine and the Tigers slipped 2 spots finishing 8
th of 15 for the tournament. Mark-David Ostruske shot even par back nine, while Paden Mask carded 5 birdies, which led both to shoot 77. After starting 3 over through 2 holes Jerry Montano went +2 for the rest of the way to finish with a 75 for round 2.
This is the men's last tournament prior to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on April 25
th & 26
th at The Territory in Duncan, OK.
