2022 Men Soccer Schedule Released

5/25/2022 6:00:00 PM

McPherson, KS – The 2022 Central Christian College of Kansas men's soccer team, under head coach Aaron Hoxie, who is entering his 11th season, announce the 2022 schedule.

For most of the 2021 season, the Tigers were in the middle of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) table.  As the season wore on, the young squad begin to show cracks and picked up a couple of unlucky results along the way.  However, a late overtime goal in the final game of the season earned them the 8th seed and back to back tournament appearances.  The Tigers will once again lace up the boots and go toe to toe with many of the SAC elites.

In the Tigers non-conference portion, they will compete against many of the same schools as previously.  With the Tigers coming off of a 5-4-1 non-con record, Coach Hoxie is looking for improvement from his side, "I think that we were a little bit unlucky last year early on.  We took two major injuries in August that carried over into the middle of September, and we were already lacking depth as it relates to experience.  We were young to begin with, so guys were having to learn on the fly.  This led to some close competitive results, but that did not translate into the wins we were hoping for.  The kids have grown up, and we have added some significant depth, so we are looking at 2022 non-conference as a redo if you will.  A chance to see if we can get these tough losses to go our way."  The schedule will feature home games against Bethany College (8/27), Ecclesia College (8/30), Sterling College (9/2), Randall University (9/21), and Dallas Christian College (9/23).  The Tigers added two new teams to the schedule with away trips at Arlington Baptist University (9/9), Texas College (9/10), and they return trips to Manhattan Christian College (9/14), and Bacone College (9/17).

The Tigers will begin SAC play with a home game vs Southwestern Christian University (9/28).  As play continues into October, there are no days off for the weary with games at Mid-America Christian University (10/1), Oklahoma City University (10/4), home to Oklahoma Panhandle State University (10/8), Wayland Baptist University (10/14), at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (10/19), vs John Brown University (10/22), and finishing off conference play with the Dallas trip at Texas Wesleyan University (10/27), and Southwest Assemblies of God University (10/29).  "I am excited for this year conference games.  We have definitely gotten better by our standards, but so has everyone else.  The games are difficult but they are rewarding and challenging.  Our goal is to be as difficult to play against as possible."

The Tigers reserve side will feature 15 games this season with 8 home games and 7 away games.  With a deep squad and a quality freshman class, Coach Hoxie is looking forward to watching players develop through the system.  "The key is to give kids as many competitive minutes as possible.  The more they play, the more they improve.  This is exciting for me because the incoming class is loaded with potential, some real gems in there.  Plenty of minutes for players to showcase their development and represent the college."

Senior Day celebrations will be 9/23/22.  Homecoming events will be 10/8/22.  You can follow the Tigers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.  For more information, please visit www.ccctigers.com
