McPherson, Kan. - On Saturday, the Central Christian College of Kansas Men's Soccer team faced the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers. The match was played at Grant Sports Complex due to the rain received over the last week that made the field at the College unplayable.
The Tigers fought hard and wound up with a 1-1 draw to move their conference record to 0-2-1 on the season.
The match was quiet until the 38th minute as
Moritz Bienmuller found the back of the net for the Tigers after a nice cross from
Rylan Snell, giving them a 1-0 advantage.
The Tigers would take eight more shots with only four being on target. The Pioneers maintained possession more in the second half, putting up 23 shots throughout the game with 10 being on net.
Martin Restrepo stepped up for the Tigers, making eight saves and only allowing one goal which came in the 63rd minute to even up the match.
As time in the second half dwindled down,
Rylan Snell had an opportunity for a game winning goal in the last few seconds of the match but the ball found the gloves of the Pioneer keeper and remained a 1-1 draw. Snell also recorded two shots on target throughout the game, forcing the Wayland back line to work hard in the second half.
The Tigers (3-5-2, 0-2-1 SAC) will now turn their attention to #8 ranked John Brown University on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30pm. The match will be streamed on the Urban Edge Network and SAC Sports Network.
