Esports makes history at Central!

McPherson, Kansas

Saturday, October 5th, 2019 was a historic day for Central Christian College of Kansas. Central's Esports team competed in their very first tournament! They competed in the North American Collegiate League's (NACL) tournament for the game League of Legends (LoL).

The team, composed of Benjamin Caron, Frankie Hernandez, Austin Draper, Joseph Cox, and Luke Ingram, and under the direction of Coach Lizzie Caron, spent Saturday practicing ahead of the tournament. All five members of the team, as well as NACL, streamed the tournament live on Twitch. Twitch is a streaming service designed for video gamers. The team played Butler Premier in the ninth game of the tournament.

Despite working hard as a team, Butler Premier took the win and moved on to the next round of the tournament. The team took several positives away from the experience and is doubling down on practice to prepare for another tournament at the end of October.
