It was a hard day for the Tiger women's tennis team. They squared off against Southwestern College and Hesston College on Saturday without their #3 singles player Emily McGarity who withdrew from school earlier in the week. The Tigers who lost to the Moundbuilders in a close match, 4-5, two weeks ago, struggled with the lineup change on Saturday, and lost 1-8. The only win came from senior Kristen Reith at #1 singles.

In the afternoon match against the Hesston College Larks, the Tigers fared a little better, but still struggled. They were defeated by the Larks 7-2 with wins coming at the #1 doubles and singles spot. The #1 doubles team of Reith and Tori McCord bounced back after a disappointing morning match to win 8-4 over the Larks' #1 team. Kristen Reith finished her day at 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-3 win a #1 singles over Lindsborg native Samantha Aeschliman.

CCC head coach Jeremy Nelson summed up the day this way, "It was a tough day for us with the delay in the morning pushing everything back and playing late into the evening, it just made for tough conditions. Couple that with what the team had to deal with this week losing a key player, it was a recipe for disaster. We fought hard, but it was just too much to overcome. We will focus this next week on improving those areas we are struggling in."

The loss to Southwestern drops the Tigers to 2-6 on the season. The match with Hesston was an exhibition match and therefore doesn't count against their season record. The ladies will be back in action on April 11 against Mac College at 7:00 pm at McPherson High School.
