Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Tigers fall twice in Texas

Waxahachie, Texas – Central traveled down to Texas this weekend for a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference matchups. Their first was against SAGU in Waxahachie on Friday, September 1st. The Tigers felt confident coming off a strong win against Bethel but the 20th ranked Lions would prove to be too much for the Tigers. Central struggled to get anything going as they would fall to SAGU in three straight sets.
The Tigers would make the short drive north up to Fort Worth on Saturday for their game against Texas Wesleyan as they looked to bounce back from a tough day Friday. The Tigers dropped the first set 15-25 but regrouped well and won the second set 25-16. Unfortunately, this momentum would not last as Texas Wesleyan would take the next two sets to win the match 3-1.

By the Numbers
Over the two games, the Tigers had 51 kills on 200 attempts with 39 errors for a hitting percentage of .060 resulting in an average of 7 kills a set.

Tiger Leaders

Digs: Freeman (22)
Assists: Smith (21)
Blocks: Owens (2)
Aces: Dotter, Smith, Vanatta (3)

Coach Quote
"It was a tale of 2 teams for us this weekend. I think the youth of our team and some of the past snuck onto our bench when we played SAGU. Instead of playing hard and focusing on our process, we were playing as though we were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Uncertain of the outcome and what SAGu was going to do instead of playing hard and letting the results take care of themselves. Great atmosphere that day and SAGU is a very good team. Looking forward to playing them again. On to the match with Texas Wesleyan, we played well! It was exciting to see us play with energy and be aggressive through each set. We had our moments both good and bad but in total looked much better as a team. Texas Wesleyan is also a good team and it was good to see us play hard. We are coming together as a team and I think by the end of the season we will be the team we set out to be." - Coach Rick Hughes

Next Up
The Tigers are back on the road on Wednesday, September 6th as they travel to Friends University in Wichita, Kan. for a matchup with the Falcons.
