Rick Hughes

Coach Hughes begins his second season at the helm of the Tiger volleyball programs in 2022-23.

Prior to coming to Central Christian in the spring of 2020, Coach Hughes had twenty-three years of coaching volleyball at many different levels, including NCAA Division II, NJCAA Division I, High School, and Club. In 2000, he assisted an NCAA Division II team gain national recognition, with a fourth place finish. During his time in Nebraska, he was able to lead his team to the state level, where they finished as the 2011 Runner ups in the State of Nebraska (Class A). Prior to that time, Hughes was instrumental in helping teams achieve State Champion (2018) and State Runner up (2017) (Class A). At the club level, Coach Hughes has coached teams that have finished 3rd in the Nation in 2014, 9th in the Nation in2015 and won national tournaments at The Colorado Crossroads in 2011, and the World Challenge in 2014.

Hughes loves the sport of volleyball and believes that his calling is to work with motivated individuals through the sport to expand the kingdom of God. His vision for the program is to be a positive influence in the lives of all who interact with the program. To accomplish this, Coach Hughes takes the approach of teaching character and lifelong skills while also connecting with people and building relationships.

Hughes currently resides in McPherson with his wife Randi and three children Mathen (14), Parker (11), and Joshua (8).
