LADY TIGERS SHOCK THE LIONS IN OVERTIME VICTORY !

3/27/2021 9:24:00 AM

Box Score Waxahachie, TX – Samantha Carachure and Alexa Riddle lead the Tigers past the Lions 2-1 in OT.

Tigers would dominate the game for majority of the game with one unfortunate slip up of an own goal in the first half to put the SAGU Lions ahead 1-0. The Lions would hold on to this lead until the last two minutes of regulation, until Samantha Carachure netted her 7th goal of the season and probably one of the most important of her career as a Tiger.

The Lady Tigers would carry that momentum into Overtime as Alexa Riddle the Tigers leading scorer would do what she's done all year and end the game with her 18th goal of the year to put the Tigers up 2-1 over the Lions.

With this win the Tigers will advance to the SAC Tournament and will wait to see the seeding for the SAC Tournament to determine who they will play. Tigers will end their regular season at 8-9, 3-6 SAC and currently in 6th place in the SAC.

Central Christian Quote:
Head Coach Cole Ouren:

"We've been battling injuries and adversity throughout the year and this continued during our time in Texas. However, in the face of adversity and a disappointing loss on Wednesday, the girls continued to show their grit and character with a great performance this afternoon."

"We started the game off really well but went down early in the first half off an unfortunate own goal. The girls on the sideline came up big with a loud and positive presence that aided the success on the field. In spite of dominating possession and shots on goal, we were unable to find the back of the net. The girls showed a great deal of composure and patience and were rewareded for that as well as their attacking persistence with a late goal in the second half by Sam Carachure. Thankfully it did not take one in overtime for Alexa Riddle to net a deserving game winner!"

"I am extremely proud of all the players. Everyone stepped into their role and performed at a high level."

Go Tigers!
