McPherson, Kan. - The Tiger Women's Soccer team took on in town rival McPherson College last night in the second Collegiate Cup match up of the year.
The Tigers struggled to possess the ball in the first half but were able to hang in there by defending the box well and strong goalkeeper play by
Samantha Stoehner.
Chloe Clevenger did nearly break free for a breakaway goal scoring opportunity for the Tigers but a Bulldog defender was able to make a nice play on the ball and push it out of harms way. The team would head into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
In the second half, the Bulldogs ability to possess the ball and keep it on the Tigers half of the field began to pay off as they would net the first goal of the match in the 54th minute. The Tigers struggled to respond as the Bulldogs would add two more goals in the 73rd and 85th minutes, winning the match by a score of 3-0.
The Tigers fall to 0-4 on the season and will turn their attention to an away contest against Sterling College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00. The match will be streamed on the KCAC Network and Urban Edge Network.
