Tigers Overpowered by Bulldogs in Collegiate Cup Match

McPherson, Kan. - The Tigers traveled across town to face McPherson College in another Collegiate Cup Matchup last night.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, earning a penalty kick in the 6th minute after drawing a foul in the box. They would convert to take a 1-0 lead early, attempting to set the tone.

The Tigers were unable to move the ball for most of the first half as the defensive back line stepped up and kept the game at 1-0 as the first half whistle sounded. McPherson would be handed a red card in the 43rd minute, meaning they would play with 10 for the rest of the match. While this benefitted the Tigers, the same fate would await them in the 55th minute. Both teams played with 10 men the rest of the contest.

The Tigers were awarded a penalty kick and converted to tie up the match at 1-1. The Bulldogs would take the lead with a goal in the 66th minute and followed that with another goal to increase their lead in the 69th minute. They would tack on a fourth goal in the 79th minute to all but seal the game.

The Tigers would go on to drop the match 4-1 and move to 0-3 in the Collegiate Cup standings.

Despite the loss, the Tigers (1-2-1, 0-0 SAC), turn their attention to Sterling College as they travel to Sterling, Kansas on Saturday to face the Warriors at 4:30pm. The match will be streamed on the Urban Edge Network and KCAC Sports Network.
