Manhattan, Kan. – The Central Christian College Women's Volleyball team opened their season at the Thunder Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas on Friday. The Tigers faced Dallas Christian and Sterling College on the first day.
The Tigers kicked off the action on Friday facing Dallas Christian and won their first match of the season in three sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-20. The Tigers relied on freshmen
Dylan Smith and
Chloe Goratowski as they had eight and seven kills respectively.
Maddie Nix tallied 25 assists and
Alysen Harris and
Sofia Brockmeyer both tallied 12 digs on the match. Five key blocks aided the Tigers and swung the momentum in their favor throughout the match.
The Tigers had 32 kills on 108 swings with just 20 errors resulting in a .111 hitting percentage on the match.
In game two of the day, the Tigers took on Sterling College from the KCAC. The Tigers would fall to the Warriors in straight sets, 23-25, 17-25, and 19-25. The Tigers went on a 8-0 run that sparked some life in the first set but could not convert to win the set.
Tasia Harris totaled 9 kills on the match along with
Alysa Johnson notching 7 kills.
Maddie Nix was consistent in her setting duties, tallying 25 assists across the three sets.
In the match, the Tigers totaled 33 kills on 131 swings with only 24 errors to give them a .069 hitting percentage.
