McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Men's Soccer Team faced Sterling College at home this past Saturday to open their 2025 season.
Both teams came out with intensity, trading possession and opportunities early on but neither could land the first blow.
The Tigers struck first with a goal from
Genis Alcaide to take a 1-0 advantage in the 18
th minute. The Central defense stood firm and gave the Warriors a tough game, not allowing a goal until the 86
th minute which knotted the match up at 1-1.
In the 88
th minute, the Tigers drew a foul in the box which gave them a penalty shot and an opportunity to take the lead. Despite a successful penalty shot, the referee waved it off which nullified the goal and the game stayed tied at 1-1. Neither team would get a good look before the clock ran out and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Tigers (0-0-1), turn their attention to Southwestern College as they travel to Winfield, Kan. to continue their non-conference schedule to open up 2025. Their next home game is Saturday, August 30
th as they face Briar Cliff at 11:00AM. The game will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
