Tigers Defeat McPherson to Maintain Possession of the Mayors Cup

The Central Christian Men's Basketball team took on cross-town rival McPherson College at Holman Fieldhouse last night in front of a large crowd of both schools. The Tigers came into the game with intensity and big plays to take an early lead and did not look back, defeating the Bulldogs for a second straight season by a score of 80-70 to keep possession of the Mayors Cup.

Travis King was a big difference maker in the 1st half for the Tigers as he gave the Bulldogs problems in the paint grabbing 6 rebounds as well as 6 points all in the paint. Jevarrick Butler knocked down 2 three pointers in the first half to collect 6 points of his own with Chris and Jaeden Whitten scoring 6 and 5 points each in the 1st. In the 2nd half, Butler and the Whitten's would heat up even more as they all finished the game with double digit points. Chris finished with 22, Jaeden finished with 12, and Jevarrick Butler would finish with 16 as well as tallying 4 total three pointers. Michael Doria also shot well from behind the arc as his 9 points would come from making 3 of his 4 three point attempts. Travis King nearly recorded a double double finishing with 8 points and 9 rebounds. An overall strong team effort to keep the Tigers unbeaten.

The Tigers improve to 3-0 on the season and will face Tabor College at home on Saturday Night for Homecoming. Tipoff is set for 6pm and the game will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
