McPherson, Kan. — The Central Christian College Women's Volleyball team wrapped up their home campaign falling in straight sets to Nelson University (17-25, 16-25, 22-25) inside Jerry E. Alexander Arena.
The Tigers struggled to find rhythm early, as Nelson used strong serving and net play to control the first two sets. Central's attack began to click in the third, where the Tigers posted their best offensive set of the match with a .229 hitting percentage, but the late push wasn't enough to extend the contest.
Sydnie Jones paced the Central offense with seven kills, while Dylan Smith added five and a block. Setter Maddie Nix guided the attack with 18 assists and also chipped in seven digs. Defensively, libero Sofia Brockmeyer anchored the back row with a team-high 13 digs.
As a team, the Tigers tallied 25 kills and seven service aces. Despite the loss, the squad showed resilience down the stretch, keeping the final set within striking distance against one of the top teams in the conference.
The Tiger move to 4-22 (2-18) on the year, and will conclude the regular season on the road at College of the Ozarks and John Brown University this weekend. The games will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
