McPherson, Kan. - The Central Christian College of Kansas Women's Soccer team was back in action this weekend and did not disappoint. The Tigers delivered a win that would give them momentum as they enter a stretch of three straight away matches in the coming weeks.
The first half was quiet as there were only seven total shots in the first 45 minutes between the two teams. The Central defense stood tall as Texas Wesleyan had a few scoring opportunities in the first half but could not convert.
Out of the break, the Tigers ramped up their pace and it worked to their advantage.
Makhaya Smith found herself one on one with the keeper and got Central on the board with a goal in the 56th minute. Her second goal of the season ended up being the only goal of the match. The Tiger defense once again held firm as they did not allow the Rams to score.
The win moves the Tigers to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2 in SAC Conference play on the season. The Tigers return to the pitch on Tuesday as they travel to OPSU and then to Wayland Baptist on Saturday. The games will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
