McPherson, Kan. - The Tiger Men's Soccer team was back in action today as they welcomed the Texas Wesleyan University Rams to town. The Tigers made a statement today, winning 2-0 in a game that became one sided quickly.
The first half was quiet as neither team was able to produce a solid shot on goal. The Tigers capitalized right before halftime as
Sidney Tippner scored his fourth goal of the season off a great cross from
David Montano Gomez. This would swing the momentum back in favor of the Tigers. They would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game as their back line stood firm.
The Tigers increased their lead in the 70th minute when they drew a penalty in the box.
Genis Alcaide converted the penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season as well, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the match.
This win will go a long way for their confidence as they start a three game road stretch next week as they travel to OPSU and Wayland Baptist on Tuesday and Saturday respectively. The matches will be streamed live on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
