In an exhilarating performance, the Central Christian College Tigers stunned the #23 ranked Oklahoma City University Stars with an 89-76 victory on Saturday night. The win not only marks a major triumph for the Tigers but also pushes their record to 7-1 as they continue to build momentum in the season.
Central Christian came out firing on all cylinders, led by the dynamic play of
Omari Maulana, scoring 20 points while dishing out 6 assists. Maulana's ability to control the game and create scoring opportunities for his teammates was pivotal in the Tigers' commanding victory.
Chris Whitten also delivered another solid performance, contributing 19 points, including several key shots that kept the Tigers' offense flowing, contributing to Central Christian's balanced attack.
Jevarrick Butler added 15 points, but the big spark came from
Jaeden Whitten, who had a stellar 15-point outing off the bench. Jaeden's scoring, including timely three-pointers (3-3), was crucial in maintaining the Tigers' lead throughout the second half.
Defensively, the Tigers executed their game plan to perfection, limiting Oklahoma City's scoring runs and controlling the tempo. Central Christian was efficient on both sides of the ball, showcasing their depth and cohesion as a team. Oklahoma City fought hard, but the Tigers' balanced scoring and disciplined play were simply too much to overcome.
