The Central Christian College Tigers extended their impressive start to the season with a dominant 99-61 victory over Southwestern Christian University on Tuesday night. The win improved their record to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play, as they showed no signs of a letdown following their emotional victory over nationally ranked Oklahoma City University just days earlier.
Omari Maulana led the charge for the Tigers with 16 points, contributing to an offense that was firing on all cylinders.
Chris Whitten added 15 points, while
Jevarrick Butler chipped in 14 points. Perhaps the most exciting performance came from
Jaeden Whitten, who scored 16 points off the bench on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting.
The Tigers' bench was a major factor in the win, scoring a remarkable 41 points compared to just 18 points from Southwestern Christian's reserves. Central's depth was on full display, with 12 different players getting on the scoreboard. This balanced offensive attack overwhelmed Southwestern Christian, who struggled to keep pace with Central's scoring.
The Tigers came out strong from the opening tip and never looked back, leading 46-32 at halftime. They dominated on both ends of the floor, particularly in transition and off turnovers. Central capitalized on 21 points off turnovers, while Southwestern Christian managed just 3 points in the same category, highlighting the Tigers' defensive pressure and ability to convert mistakes into points.
Key Stat: Tigers had 41 points from the Bench, and outscored SCU 21-3 on points off turnovers.
