Tigers split in triangular with Baker, Bethel

McPherson, Kan. – The Tigers competed in a triangular with Baker University and Bethel College on Wednesday and went 1-1 on the night.
Their first match was against Baker and they came out strong winning the first set 25-18. There then seemed to be a disconnect as the Tigers would drop the next 3 sets to the Wildcats to lose the match 3-1.

The Tigers would bounce back in a big way against Bethel, taking the first two sets 25-15 and 25-23. The Tigers seemed poised for a win in straight sets but fell short in the third set barely losing it 25-23. They would not be denied in the fourth set though, winning it 25-19 capping off a great match against a strong Thresher squad.

By the Numbers
The Tigers hit .120 with 80 kills on 275 swings and just 47 errors across 8 sets resulting in an average of 10 kills per set.

Coach Quote
Coach Hughes had this to say about Wednesday's triangular, "It was a good home opener for us. We saw great performances from a lot of players and it's fun to see the team coming together and working hard. Tough loss to a good program in Baker but recovered well by executing our game plan and getting the win against Bethel.
All in all a good night, more work to do, and excited for what the team will accomplish."

Next Up
With the split in the triangular, the Tigers record moves to 3-3 on the young season. It will be quick turnaround for the Tigers as they travel to Waxahachie, Texas on Friday, September 1st to face SAGU in their first Sooner Athletic Conference match of the season.
