Waxahachie, Texas. – The Central Christian College softball team opened up Sooner Athletic Conference play this past weekend on the road against the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions. Because of weather earlier in the week, the fields in Waxahachie were unplayable, so the start of the series was moved to Saturday. Because it was a conference game and there were no other weekends available to make up the series, the Tigers were granted an exception to finish the series on Sunday afternoon.

It was an extremely well-played and competitive series, but the Tigers were only able to snag one of the four games from the Lions.

Game 1: L, 5-1

The Tigers opened the series with a 5-1 loss to the Lions. The CCCK ladies got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but couldn't find a way to push across any more runs the rest of the way.

Game 2: L, 1-0

Game two needed extra innings to decide the outcome. The game was scoreless for the first eight and a half innings. In the bottom of the 9th, the Lions were able to walk it off on an RBI single to center field.

Hitting: The Tigers had five hits in the game, including a double by Destiny Holt, but stranded five runners on base.

Pitching: Sara Lynch got the start and pitched a complete game for the Tigers. She had a great game, giving up just one run on seven hits, with five strikeouts and just two free passes.
