Plainview, Texas. – The Central Christian College men's basketball team had another tough outing on Thursday night on the road against the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers.
Making matters worse, the Tigers were without one of their top shooters,
Reece Warren, who was out due to an illness. The Pioneers beat up the Tigers inside, out-scoring them 48 to 20 in the paint. Twenty-six of those 48 came from the Pioneers' D'Michael Bellfield.
The Pioneers opened the game on a 15-0 run which propelled them to a 38-23 halftime lead. In the second half, the Tigers were a little better on both ends of the floor, but the Pioneers were still able to win the half 34 to 25, giving them a 72-42 victory.
By the Numbers
Offensively, the Tigers made 17 of 52 (33%) shots from the floor, but were just 5 of 17 (29%) from deep.
At the free throw line they were a dismal 9 of 17 (53%) for the game.
The turnovers were even at seven a piece.
The Pioneers won the battle of the glass, out-rebounding the Tigers 39 to 28.
Two Tigers scored in double figures, led by
Malachi Farr with 13.
