McPherson, Kan. – The drought is finally over! The Central Christian College women's basketball team finally got the proverbial monkey off their back, defeating the Kansas Christian College Falcons 74-24 in front of the home faithful at Jerry E. Alexander Arena.
The Tigers opened the game by jumping out to a 17 to 8 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second period, the Tigers' defense put the screws to the Falcons, holding them to just two points in the quarter. At the halftime intermission, the Tigers led 32-10.
Out of the break, the Tiger offense was lights out. They scored a season high 26 points to extend their lead over the Falcons to 58 – 19. In the final ten minutes of action, the Tigers kept the pressure up. They outscored the Falcons 16 to 5 in the quarter to make the final score 74-24.
By the Numbers
For the game, the Tiger offense went 28 of 67 (42%) from the floor.
From behind the three point arc they hit on 6 of 20 (30%) of their attempts.
They were much improved from the free throw line this time out, going 8-21 (71%).
All eight of the Tigers that suited up, contributed to the scoring effort, with three finishing with double digits, led by a career high 27 points from
Kylee Jones. She also had 19 boards, giving her her first double double of the season.
The Tigers dominated the boards, out rebounding the Falcons 53-33, and they won the turnover battle 16 to 27.

Next Up
The Tigers (1-1), will go on the road for the first time this season, next Tuesday when they make the short trip across town for the annual Mayor's Cup game against McPherson College. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 pm.
