Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Fall to Rams at Home

McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College women's soccer team fell to 0-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, losing at home on Tuesday evening to the Texas Wesleyan University Rams.

The Tigers had their best offensive performance of the season with three goals, but were unable to stop the Rams, giving up six goals on the defensive side.

The Tigers got on the board first, 26 minutes into the first half when Aliyah Moya (Sr. Colorado Springs, Colo.), scored off of an assist from Avery Lemons (So. Overland Park, Kan.). Two minutes later the Rams slotted the equalizer, and then took the lead 2-1 with a goal in the 32nd minute.  They added a third goal in the 40th minute to go up 3-1. It looked like the Tigers would head into the halftime intermission down two, but with 43 seconds remaining in the period, Arleanna Palomares (Jr. Westwood Mesa, Ariz.), was sent in behind the Rams' defense from a pass by Lemons. Palomares beat the Rams' goal keeper to bring the Tigers back to within one and with some momentum heading into the second half.

Unfortunately, the Rams quickly regained the momentum with two quick goals in the first six minutes of the second frame. The Tigers continued to fight, and in the 64th minute, got one of the goals back. This time it was Lemons who found the back of the net for the Tigers on an assist from Annlin Grattet (Fr. Centennial, Colo.).

The Tigers were unable to close the gap any further the rest of the way. The Rams added a sixth goal in the 84th minute to make the final tally 6-3 in favor of the visiting side.

Katelyn Beckman (So. Colorado Springs, Colo.) was in goal again for the Tigers she finished the night with eight saves.

The Tigers are now 0-8-1 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. They will get another chance at their first win of the season on Saturday when they host the OCU Stars at 2:00 pm.
