McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College women's basketball team opened their season Monday evening, at home against the Randall University Saints. Despite only having seven healthy bodies available, the Tigers had a strong start, leading the Saints for three quarters of the game.
The Tigers had a seven point lead after the first 10 minutes of action and then extend the lead to 10 points, 31-21 at the halftime intermission. They outscored the Saints in the third period by two points to extend the lead out to 12 points heading into the final frame.
Unfortunately, foul trouble and fatigue caught up with the Tigers in the fourth quarter, and the Saints outscored the Tigers 26 to 11 in the quarter to defeat the Tigers 61-58. Three Tigers fouled out in the final 10 minutes of action, forcing the team to finish playing the final three minutes of the game four vs. five.

For the game, the Tiger offense went 22 of 62 (36%) from the floor.
From behind the three point arc they hit on 6 of 28 (21%) of their attempts.
They went 8-21 (38%) from the free throw line.
Six of the seven Tigers that suited up, contributed to the scoring effort, with two finishing with double digits.
Hallee Winsea led the Tigers in scoring with 20 points, including three three-pointers.
The Saints won the battle of the boards 49-47, and the turnover battle 23 to 26.

Brad Willems had this to say about his teams' effort. "I asked the girls for effort and I truly believe they gave me that. We still got a lot to work on but they competed and that's a great first step! We have come a long way in a few weeks, we just need to keep growing!"
