Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Tigers Comeback Against MACU Falls Short

McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College Women's Volleyball team was back in action Thursday night as they faced Mid-America Christian University. The match was reminiscent of last years' match here in McPherson as they went to 5 sets again this year.

The first set was all Central as they stormed out to a 16-6 lead. Being up 20-11 later in the set, MACU went on a 9-2 run to cut the Tiger lead to just 2 points. The Tigers were able to finish off the Evangels in the first set, 25-22. The second set was back and forth until midway through the set when MACU took advantage of a 9-3 run to increase their lead to 19-13. The Evangels would go on to win the second set 25-17. With the match now tied 1-1, the Evangels kept their foot on the gas. The third set was a carbon copy of the second as they would win the set 25-17.

Down 2-1 in the match, the Tigers were looking for any sort of momentum in the fourth set. After being up 22-21, the Tigers surrendered 3 straight points to go down 24-22 and into match point. After a Central timeout, the Tigers looked like a different team. They scored 3 straight points to take a 25-24 lead in the set. Not being able to convert at set point would square the match at 25-25. The Tigers were then able to on the offensive and secure 2 straight points giving them the 27-25 win in set four. After being down 2 sets to 1, forcing a set five had to feel great for the Tigers.

The fifth set was back and forth as the two teams traded points for what seemed like an eternity. The Evangels would gain the advantage going up 17-16 and forcing match point. This match however would end in heartbreak for the Tigers as a ball handling error was called on the Tigers giving MACU the set win 18-16 and the match win 3-2.
