Manhattan, Kan. – The Central Christian College volleyball team went 1-3 this past weekend at the Manhattan Christian College quadrangular, but just as easily could have been 3-1. The Tigers went 0-2 on day one, losing in five sets to Cottey College, a team they defeated earlier in the week at Bethel College, 25-23, 25-20, 11-25, 22-25, 12-15.
In match number two on Friday, the Tigers won the opening set against Stephens College 25-23, but then dropped the next three sets 25-21, 25-14, 25-15.
The Tigers regrouped on Saturday and came out the gate with a statement win over Sterling College in straight sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21. Their match with Sterling was at 11:00 am, and then they didn't get back on the court again for their final match against Manhattan Christian until after 6:30. The long layoff was not beneficial. The Tigers came out flat against the Thunder, dropping the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22. They rallied to take the third set 28-26 and followed that up with a 25-22 win in set four. The comeback stalled in the deciding set as MCC regained the momentum and took the set 15-9.
