2022 was a historic season for the Central Christian College of Kansas baseball team, and at the center of it all was Senior
Koki Matsuda. Matsuda led the team with a .465 batting average, hit 10 home runs, knocked in 24 runs, and had 26 stolen bases. As a result, Matsuda was named to the First Team All-Conference for the Sooner Athletic Conference for his efforts at the plate. This is historic for the program as he is the first baseball player to ever earn this honor!
"Koki was the heartbeat of the offense. Whether he was beating out a ground ball to the second baseman or hitting the ball over the center field wall, he was our catalyst," head coach
Stephen McNett said. "He was not only one of the best hitters in the conference, but he was one of the best hitters in the NAIA."
Matsuda finished in the top 3 in the NAIA in batting average. In his final collegiate at bat, Matsuda hit a towering home run to left field that cleared the scoreboard. It was the perfect ending to his career that could not have been drawn up any better.
