LADY TIGERS FIND THEMSELVES BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN ON A 5-2 VICTORY OVER THE STERLING LADY WARRIORS

Sterling, KS – After dropping their last two games in SAC play the Lady Tigers (6-6, 1-3 SAC) took on Sterling College in a non-conference game. Today's contest would also consist of 30 MPH winds and gust up to 40+ to create some havoc on the pitch.

Sterling College (0-11) would come into today's game still seeking their first win on the season. They would get off to a hot start and score a goal within the first seven minutes of play. They would hold this lead only for a short period of time before junior forward Alexa Riddle, would score back-to-back goals to put the Tigers on top 2-1 going into the 2nd half.

Once again to start the half the Warriors would find the back of the net to get the score back to level. A few moments later Kayla McDonald would find teammate Alana Robinson in what would end up being the game-winning goal to put the Tigers back on top 3-2. Tigers wouldn't stop their momentum their as Mariah Godinez would score her first goal of the season off an assist by Alexa Riddle to give the Tigers a little more cushion on their lead. Then to cap off the night Riddle would complete the Hat Trick and score her 3rd goal of the game to put the Tigers up 5-2.

The Lady Tigers survive the 30+ MPH winds and improve their record back to .500. They will try to take this momentum back to conference play when they take on Wayland Baptist Univ. this Saturday for senior night.

Central Christian Quotes:

Head Coach Cole Ouren

"I am extremely proud of the team today! We demonstrated composure, confidence and resiliency for a full 90-minutes."

"Beyond battling 30-40mph wind gusts, senior goalkeeper, Goldie Jones went to the ER due to an injury moments before kickoff. Junior, Rachel Schlagel continued to show her versatility and commitment to the team by humbly stepping into the goal with no time to mentally or physically warm-up. This was in addition to going down 0-1 early in the first half."

"In spite of obstacles we remained composed and were able to find a rhythm and collectively put the game away in the second half. It was good to not just receive playing time but quality minutes!"

"The coaching staff would like to pay special attention to Rachel Schlagel for making 5 saves on the day and Alexa Riddle for being apart of 4 out of the 5 goals."

Go Tigers!
