McPherson, KS – Lady Tigers currently sit in a 4 way tie for 5
th place in the SAC at (5-5, 1-2 SAC) before the start of today's match. A win could keep them in the 5
th spot, but a loss could drop them all the way down to 8
th place.
SCU 2-5 (0-3 SAC) would look to upset the Tigers and collect their 1
st SAC win to boost them closer to the middle of the pack.
In the 10' Megan Deshazo would open the game up with a score to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Followed a couple moments later with teammate Melo Baca finding the back on the net to increase the Eagle's lead to 2 scores.
Lady Tigers would try to respond multiple times but would come up just a bit too high or wide and couldn't complete the play. The Tigers early in the 2
nd half looked to cut into the Eagle lead, but unfortunately would be called offside negating the goal scored. Tigers would have 7 shots on goal, but SCU GK came up with 7 saves and a clean scorecard to complete the shutout.
Goldie Bougher would allow 3 goals on the performance and 5 saves, including some spectacular 1 v 1 saves to keep the Eagles at bay.
Tigers drop to 5-6, 1-3 SAC and will start to prepare for a scrimmage against Sterling and then senior night on March 13
th when they host Wayland Baptist University.
Central Christian Quote:
Head Coach
Cole Ouren:
" In spite of the loss, I am extremely proud of the teams overall performance. We responded well after giving up 2 early goals and while it did not lead to a result, we played some quality soccer. I am hopeful that we can use the positive performance and emotions of the loss to help turn the corner. We are on the verge of something special."
Go Tigers!
