Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO SCU EAGLES 3-0

McPherson, KS – Warm temperatures and low winds made for a nice day to play on the pitch for the Men's Soccer team against SAC foe Southwestern Christian University.

The Eagles came into the match undefeated 7-0-2, 3-0 and for Coach Hoxie and the Tigers that meant they would have their hands full.

Tigers sitting at 0-2-1 in conference really needed to pull off an upset so they could move up the SAC leaderboard. Teejay Chiororo of the Eagles would find the back on the net in the 9' to get ahead early 1-0 on the Tigers. Eagles would keep up the intensity as they challenged the Tiger backfield, but the Tigers would survive the 1st with only a one score game.

In the 60' Victor Arias would score off a corner kick to put the Eagles up 2-0 with 30' remaining in the match. The woes would continue for the Tigers after an unfortunate foul in the box leading to a PK for the Eagles. Good news would be Sebastian Herrera (Tiger GK) would come up with the save, but bad news, it would bounce off and the rebound would go to the Eagles Conner Contreras who would easily put it in and take the Eagle lead to 3-0.

Tigers fall to 5-7-2, 0-3-1 and will be back in action on March 13th for Senior Night.

Central Christian Quotes:

Head Coach Aaron Hoxie:

"Disappointed in our overall performance tonight. No real energy or the desire that we've shown over the last two weeks. It looked like we were still in the locker room when the game started. Tonight was definitely a shell of who we are, and not what we want to become."

"We'll take several days off to heal up. The reserve guys play Monday and Tuesday, so I'm going to focus on them. Then we'll turn our attention to getting better. Hopefully, by then, we can have all of the injuries sorted and can produce a better performance come Saturday. It's just time to turn this page and regroup, forget about today."

Go Tigers!
