McPherson, KS – Tigers would take on the Pioneers in an early afternoon match. The conditions would be less than ideal after an early morning rain, but both teams pressed on and the match was go.
Tiger's starters to begin the game would look a little different as they let some seniors get some minutes to begin the match. The Pioneers would take full advantage of the change and score four times in the first half within 30 minutes to put the Tigers in a deep hole.
All hope would seem lost until Hilario Delfin of the Tigers would score off a free kick to end the Tigers dry spell and cut into the Pioneer's lead at 4-1. To keep the momentum going right before the half ended,
Drew Schrader would score another goal for the Tigers and the game was cut down to a 2 goal deficit.
2
nd half for the Tigers would be completely different as they would change up their scheme, which would change the pace of the game. After being outshot 11-2 in the first half the Tigers would narrow that gap to 7-4. For the most part the Tigers dominated the 2
nd half, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Pioneers however would score in the 62' to put themselves up 5-2 and dampen the comeback hopes on senior day.
Tigers (5-8-2, 0-4-1 SAC) now sit in 8
th in the Sooner Athletic Conference Standings and will shift their focus to John Brown University, who they will host on March 16
th.
Go Tigers!
