Game Recap: Softball |

LADY TIGERS USE THEIR HOT BATS TO GO 4-2 OVER THE WEEKEND

McPherson, KS – The Lady Tigers would have a busy week, hosting Friends University for a double header on Thursday, and then a four game series with Ecclesia over Friday and Saturday.

The week wouldn't get started the way the Tigers planned after losing 9-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two to Friends University. Tigers struggled to get any offense going as they would be held to no runs and two hits for the series and begin 0-2 heading into the series against Ecclesia.

Central Christian Quote:

Head Coach Aaron Annis
"Thursday was a tough game. They had hitters that were hitting our gaps and we had a hard time adjusting to their pitching. I thought our defense kept us in both games."
The weekend games against Ecclesia would be a complete flip of the script. All four of the games would be decided early due to run rule (8-0, 9-0, 9-1, 12-4) as the Lady Tigers offense was overwhelming for the Ecclesia Royals.

Tigers would bat .280 in game one (7-25) and knock in 8 RBI's on 7 hits and two walks.

Hannah Hoffman would have a complete game shutout win, yielding only two hits, four walks and fanning nine to get the Tigers back in the win column.

Game two would need to be spread over two days as the game was postponed Friday night due to storms and was resumed before game three on Saturday. Tigers and Royals left the game in the bottom of the 4th, 6-0 Tigers. Altavia Hall would get to leadoff the resumed game and would hit a screaming line drive over the fence to get her first homerun of the year and start the 3 run inning to put the Tigers in a position to run rule the Royals for the 2nd straight game.

This time Cheyann Sales would get the start and go 5.0 innings in the second consecutive shutout victory. She would only allow a hit and two walks while fanning six to earn her 4th W of the season.
Game three would be similar to the previous games beside the Royals collecting their first run of the series off a homerun by Gabby Moore. Tigers would still have no problem to produce the offense to run rule the Royals for the 3rd consecutive game.

Mekaylee Beard would get the game three start going 5.0 innings, yielding a run on four hits, and three strikeouts.

For the series finale the Tigers would get off to a rough start on the defensive end as errors would trouble them in the 1st inning and the Tigers had to face their first deficit of the series. Royals would build a 4-0 lead through 3 innings before the Tigers exploded with six runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 6-4 lead. Tigers would then duplicate another six run in the bottom of the 5th to walk off their 4th consecutive win and cap off a week going 4-2.

Central Christian Quotes:

Head Coach Aaron Annis:
"Our bats came ready to work. We hit the ball very well this weekend as a whole team. I thought our pitching was on point, making it easy or our defense to make great plays to get out of each inning. We will need to use this weekend as motivation to prepare for a tough next week vs OCU and USAO."

Tigers improve to 9-13, 4-10 SAC and will start conference play again when they host Oklahoma City University in a two game series March, 30th.

Go Tigers!
