Crete, NEBRASKA – The Central Christian Men's Wrestling team took 3 wrestlers to the Open Tournament hosted by Doane University on Saturday. Tigers had wrestlers compete in the 133 open and two in the 174 open.
Landon Crews started the tournament off with against Taylor Vasquez from Morningside who won by fall over Crews (4:09). The next match Crews won by fall over Taylor Sullivan from Nebraska Wesleyan (1:19). In his final match Crews lost by fall from Darien Malone of Dakota Wesleyan (4:13).
Crews went 1-2 and earned 2.5 points
Tyler Estep started the tournament off with a loss by decision 9-5 to Michael Scarponi of Doane University. Next round Estep had a bye, the next round Estep won by decision 6-5 over Blake Daher of Benedictine College. In the Consolation match round 3 Estep was paired against teammate
Jarin Gomez. Estep won by major decision 11-3 over Gomez. In consolation round 4, Jacobi Deal from Nebraska-Kearney won by fall over Estep (3:42).
Estep went 2-2 and earned 2.5 points
Jarin Gomez started the tournament with a bye in the championship round 1. In the second round Gomez lost by tech fall (19-0) over Alex Reynolds of Grand View Iowa. Gomez received another bye next round before his final match against teammate
Tyler Estep who he would lose by major decision 11-3.
Gomez went 0-2 and earned 0.0 points.
