Lady Tigers use big first quarter to roll past Ozark Christian

MCPHERSON, KANSAS – Central Christian Lady Tigers (1-5), come up big at home to earn their first victory over Ozark Christian (0-2).

GAME SUMMARY

1st Quarter
Both teams struggle to get any offense in the opening 5 minutes, but Tigers able to hold the advantage 5-2. With 1:48 remaining in quarter Eryn Turner, made a basket in the paint to put the Tigers up 13-2 and score remains the same heading to the 2nd.

2nd Quarter
The Ambassadors come out stronger on offense with a quick 2 pointer followed by a 3 pointer with a Tiger basket in between to put the score 15-7. At the midway point Ozark Christian climbed back in within 6 of the Tigers, 19-13. To end the period Tigers hand on to a 4 point lead 21-17.

3rd Quarter
An opening layup and an one cuts the lead to only 1 and the Tigers not able to convert going down the floor leads to another 3 point play by the Ambassadors and they grab their first lead of the game 23-21 with 8:57 remaining. Tigers however, show some resilience and finish the quarter with a strong 17-7 run to take a 8 point lead 38-30 heading to the 4th and their first lead in the 4th quarter this season.

4th Quarter
Tigers force early foul trouble for Ambassadors, as they go to the line 12 times and convert 8 times to keep the threat at a minimum. Overall, Tigers outscore Ozark Christian 12-11, and hold on for a 50-41 victory.
