Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers fall just short of #4 Evangels

MCPHERSON, Kansas – Tigers give the #4 team in the NAIA a scare, but Evangels come out with a 3-2 victory.

The Tigers and Evangels last meeting was an exciting one as they went to PK's to decide the SAC winner and determine who gets an automatic bid to Nationals for the NAIA.

1st Half
The Tigers defense was rolling as they kept MACU at bay limiting them only to 2 shots on goal. It was an exciting moment as well in the 21' as Edoardo Salmaso netted a free kick to put the Tigers up 1-0. The Tigers would take care of business and hold the Evangels from scoring to go into half with the lead.

2nd Half
The Evangels made the offensive adjustment and showed the Tigers why they're ranked so high in the nation. They would score in 47', 67' and 74' to jump to a 3-1 lead and put the Tigers in an almost impossible situation to make a comeback. The Tigers didn't give up until the final whistle was blown and gave themselves some quality opportunities including a PK in the final seconds to give them 2 goals on the night.

Up Next
Tigers come up short against #4 Mid-America Christian, but will shift their focus to Wayland Baptist. Game time is 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6th.

Central Christian Quotes:
Head Coach Aaron Hoxie

"Incredibly proud of my guys tonight. They were excellent and executed our game plan almost to perfection. We gave them all that they could handle tonight and then some. Unfortunately, we had a couple of issues that we could not sort out and that resulted in goals. But that is the game of soccer and although preventable, they are bound to happen when under the pressure that we were under. I ask my guys to play a style that is ever so taxing. As a result, mistakes can occur. At the end of the day I believe that we represented ourselves well. Unfortunately, that's our 6th one goal loss of the season. Eventually, we'll find some luck somewhere. It's bound to happen."
