Tigers earn first victory of 2021

McPherson, Kansas – Lady Tigers bounce back and get first win of 2021 in blowout of the Thunder at the Jerry Alexander Arena.

Lady Tigers had the clear advantage entering the night as the Manhattan Christian Thunder entered the game with only 5 players. With the advantage the Tigers would keep putting fresh legs on the court and while the Thunder couldn't sub and their starters had to play all 40 minutes. The Thunder would even have to play with only 4 players at one point, because a player of theirs had to go through concussion protocol after she fell on her head.

Tigers never let up on the Thunder and each player that touched the court would contribute in some capacity and some normal bench players got some quality time and got to shine during tonight's contest. Alison Kulesza would score a season high 23 points with 7 three pointers, Abigail Contreras would follow her with 18 points after she went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc, teammates Cheyenne Marshall and Ridglea Hearne would score 10 points to round out the Tigers in double figures. Tania Lowe the Tigers season leading scorer would score 6 points, but also contributed a season high 10 assist on the night as she was unselfish and got all of her teammates involved.

Lady Tigers showed tonight how explosive their offense can be and absolutely shut down the Thunder offense allowing only 33 points and had 23 steals on the night.

Marc Gold Head Women's Basketball Coach:
"Tonight was a great opportunity for our team to continue working together and playing for each other. The teamwork showed up in the form of 23 assists and 55 rebounds. The great shooting from Abigail Contreras and Alison Kulesza made it a fun night for our entire team."

Tigers improve to 2-5 and will be back in action on Jan. 11th as they open up conference play against John Brown University at home.

Go Tigers!
