McPherson, KS – Central Christian College Women's Basketball 2-9 (0-4) headed to Coyle, Oklahoma to take on conference opponent Langston University 1-2 (0-2) in an important SAC game that could get the Lady Tigers back on track and gain their first SAC win of the year.
Tigers wouldn't have their prettiest start to a game, but they would play well enough to build a 21-18 three point lead through the 1
st quarter. The 2
nd quarter would be another tightly contested quarter as both teams would come out with an even 16 points. This would give the Tigers a slight 37-34 advantage heading into the half to give them their first SAC halftime win.
Everything was calling for a Lady Tiger upset victory on the road against the Lions at half as both teams went to their locker rooms. Tigers would enter with high hopes going into the 3
rd, but they would be spoiled by the Lions capitalizing on turnovers. Tiger's 3 point lead turned into a 17 deficit with a quarter to go.
Tiger's gave everything they had for the last 10 minutes knowing their chances of coming back was slim. Lions would build their lead to over 20 points at one point, but the Tigers would go on a rally to spark some excitement and get the game within 14 points with a couple of minutes to go. The deficit would be too great in the end and Tigers rally would come to a halt.
Tiger's threaten the Lions and have 3 Tigers score in double figures, but the 1
st SAC win will have to wait.
Tigers will return home and face perhaps their greatest challenge on Thursday as they take on the #2 team in the NAIA, Wayland Baptist University.
Go Tigers!
