Bartlesville, OK – Men's Wrestling goes 2-2 at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Invite.
Oklahoma Wesleyan would host this 7 team invitational, but Central would only dual against 4 other colleges Wayland Baptist (Rd.1), Texas Wesleyan (Rd.2), Lyon College (Rd. 3) and Central Baptist (Rd.4).
In round 1 the Pioneers would get the better of the Tigers coming out on top 37-15. Positively the Tigers improved the deficit from last season in which the Pioneer won 46-12.
Round 2 would be the first time the Tigers have faced Texas Wesleyan and Texas Wesleyan would sweep the Tigers 58-0.
Despite the previous round the Tigers would quickly change their focus to Lyon College in which they would finally get momentum to swing to their side. Tigers would go on to dominate their round 3 match against Lyon College to secure their first dual victory of the season.
Trying to keep the momentum going into the next round, the Tigers had to get ready for their 4
th match of the evening against Central Baptist. Round 4 would be the closet match of the day as the Tigers narrowly got the victory 24-20 over Central Baptist.
The Tigers may not have had a perfect night, but they ended the invite with 2 solid victories and some success they can take to their next match.
I thought for the most part we are starting to make strides despite our unforeseen circumstances and adversities we had to deal with. Still have a long way to go, but it is ever important now to consistently keep taking steps forward.– Head Men's Wrestling Coach,
Tim Prescott
Next up for the Tigers will be a home dual against York College on January 29
th.
