Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Tigers come up short in shootout

McPherson, Kansas – The Lady Tigers took the court for the first time this New Year and the first time since November 7th of 2020. Tigers would face off against the Baptist Bible College Patriots in this epic showdown.

This would be the first time these two teams played each other since the 2007-2008 season and the wait would be well worth it. It would take all 40 minutes to declare an obvious winner. Through the first quarter the Tigers and Patriots would be locked in a tight matchup with the Patriots pulling slightly ahead 17-16.

The second quarter would be another tight one with the Patriots once again having the slight advantage and would take a 38-33 lead at halftime. Although the Tigers were down at half this game was still well within reach and they needed a quarter to go in their favor to start putting some pressure on the Patriots. Tigers would do just that and built a 22-18 quarter to cut the Patriot lead down to 1, 56-55 heading to the 4th.

After trading baskets and the lead during the entire 4th, this game would come down to the wire. Both teams would hold the lead at some point during the 4th, and never more than a two possession lead. Going down to the final couple of minutes the Patriots would have a slight 3 point lead in which the Tigers would be able to cut the lead down to 1 multiple times. Despite this the Patriots would have the Tigers number tonight and be able to knock down clutch free throws and put the Patriots ahead after the final whistle with a 75-72 win.

Despite taking the loss today the Tigers had some key performances and the game will be a good warmup before conference play. 3 of the Tigers would get to double figures led by senior point guard Tania Lowe with 17 and fellow seniors Kassidy Forsberg and Jordan Dixon adding another 16 points apiece.

Tigers will be back in action on January 4th, when they take on Manhattan Christian College at home.

Go Tigers!
