McPherson, Kansas - September 24, 2020
Tigers traveled to Muskogee, Oklahoma to take on the Bacone College Warriors in hopes to extend their win streak to 3 straight. Tigers would start off a bit slow, not taking advantages of their scoring opportunities. On the opposite end the Tigers defense would step up and not allow the Warriors to score either, giving the Tigers an opportunity to still take control of the game in the 2
nd half.
After coming out of the half, the Tigers started to execute scoring opportunities and putting pressure on the Warriors. The Tigers would finally be able to get a goal and would go on to score 4 in the half to put away the Warriors and win their 3
rd straight to start the season off!
"In the first half we were a little sluggish getting off of the bus. I think there was a little bit of scoreboard watching from our guys and we just could not get ourselves up to the standard we have been used to playing over the past three weeks. Fortunately, we were able to remain defensively solid and did not give up much of anything and the game was essentially stuck in MF. Although, we did create a point blank chance that the GK reacted quickly to."
"The second half was completely different. It's almost like the players needed 45 minutes to get themselves worked out. But we came out with another level of intensity that was more akin to what we are used to playing. Our interchange play was phenomenal and we were able to play in the half spaces. The runs from our outside backs were really the key to getting numbers forward. Those guys work their socks off to make supporting runs and providing options for switching to play. With the guys playing this way it was only a matter of time before one went in. Fortunately, one turned into four."
Tigers move to 3-0 and will host Ecclesia College on September 29
th and look to increase their win streak to 4!
Go Tigers!
