McPherson, Kan. – Women's Basketball pulls off upset of the Texas Wesleyan Rams in the Jerry E. Alexander Arena.
The Lady Tiger Basketball team entered today's competition 0-6 all-time against the Rams. But, after today the Rams, are no longer undefeated and the Tigers pick up their first regular season win to improve to 1-4.
This game would go back and forth with no real clear winner until the final buzzer. Texas Wesleyan would lead after the first 3 quarters, but Central would constantly be nipping at their heels awaiting the opportunity to take the lead. Tigers would take the lead in the middle of the 4
th quarter for the first time since the 1
st quarter. This time the Tigers would hold that lead and not let the Rams back into the game.
The difference in this game didn't come from the stats as both teams looked identical on paper. Tigers down the stretch held their composure and grinded out a well-earned victory. Rams held the biggest difference in the game, outrebounding the Tigers 54-37. However that wouldn't make that big of a difference because the Tigers found a way to keep them from scoring.
Tigers fought to the very end and win this dramatic SAC preview 58-53.
Coach Golden on a recap of the performance said:
"I am very proud of all of our ladies. We kept up our defensive pressure and bench energy through 7 lead changes. We are still working on our rebounds but we were able to get more possessions through our defense. Our ladies completely bought in to the idea of playing for each other."
Lady Tigers will be back in action in Plainview, TX on November 12
th @ 6:00 P.M.
Go Tigers!
