Bethany, OK – The Central Christian College Lady Tigers Volleyball Team (2-10) took on Southwestern Christian University Eagles for the 2
nd time this season. The Tigers for consecutive games would have the match decided by the 5
th set.
The Lady Tigers in their last meeting with the Eagles would have a 3-0 sweep in a triangular match against SCU & MACU. The Eagles this time however would rally from a 2-0 deficit and even the season series against the Tigers. Eagles hold the advantage over the Tigers in the all-time series 15-2.
Tigers would get off to a hot start in this match, stunning the Eagles in the first set 25-12. They looked to make easy work of the Eagles again in set two up 20-12, but the Eagles would rally and get the game within a few points and the Tigers would scrape by set two with a 25-23 win.
After outmatching the Eagles in hitting percentage the first two sets the Eagles would flip the script and have a .405 hitting percentage compared to the Tigers .175. Eagles would take set 3 25-17. Eagles would continue their momentum into set 4 and win 25-16 to force another 5 set series for the Tigers.
Last week the Tigers were in this very situation and they would win over SAC foe USAO in a dramatic home victory. Tigers would find themselves with a slight advantage late in the set, but Eagles would end on a 4-1 run to come back and win the match 3-2 and even the season series with the Tigers.
Ryan Webb, Head Volleyball Coach said this on tonight's match:
"We played consistent even with a piece of our offense missing this week. Rounding out the fall season, we are starting to knock the wrinkles out before conference starts in the spring."
Tiger's next match will be hosting SAC opponent Wayland Baptist on October 30
th in the Ed Pyle Sports Complex, game time will be 7:30 PM!
Go Tigers!
