TIGERS REMATCH BID COMES UP SHORT ON HOMECOMING NIGHT
The Lady Tigers had high hopes tonight to upset the Warriors who have only one loss on the season, while the Tigers have unfortunetly not found their first win yet.
The Tigers would get off to a slow start in set one, as the Warriors would take advantage of the Tiger's miscues and get an easy 25-13 win. Tigers would be able to get 7 kills, but would tack on 7 errors in 39 attempts to give them a 0 hit percentage.
Set two would be the most exciting set of the night as the Tigers and Warriors would have to go past 25 points to settle this set. Tigers would have one of their best sets of the year having a .290 hitting percentage thanks to 14 kills and only 5 errors on 31 attempts. The Tigers would have a couple of opportunities to close out the set, but the Warriors would stay alive and eventually take set 2 28-26.
After a tough set two the Tigers were still hopeful to complete the comeback. The Tigers would keep things interesting to begin the match, but would have a couple of tough calls down the stretch and drain the energy out of the arena. Warriors would take advantage and complete the sweep and take set 3 25-16. Tigers similar to set one would have 6 kills, 6 errors in 38 attempts to have a 0 hitting percentage.
On the night Tigers would have 27 kills, 18 errors in 108 attempts for a 0.83 hitting percentage compared to the Warriors who had a .244 hitting percentage. Tigers would total 4 aces, a season high 7 blocks and 46 digs.
Aijha Sampsell and
Zola Moore would both lead the Tigers in Kills with 10 apiece.
Marissa Waddel would get 5 blocks on the night and Alexa Abasolo would have a season high 23 assist on the night.
Tigers will be back in action after a couple of weeks, when they take on conference foe USAO in a pre-conference warmup.
Go Tigers!
