Chickasha, Oklahoma
The Lady Tigers Soccer team traveled down to take on SAC opponent USAO. Last year the Drovers were the top SAC team with a 8-1 record in conference. Coach
Cole Ouren and the Tigers knew they would have their hands full and looked forward to the challenge ahead.
The Tigers would found out soon in this game why the Drovers were the top of the SAC last year, as they would outshoot the Tigers in the 1
st half 16 to 2. Despite this the Tigers did a good job of limiting Shots on Goal and Goldie would only allow 1 goal to keep the Tigers in the game.
The Lady Tigers would come out of the half still ecstatic only down by 1 goal and hoping to get back into the game. Drovers would once again out shoot the Tigers by a significant margin 12 – 2, but Tigers would manage to double Shots on Goal in the 2
nd period. Unfortunately, the USAO GK would manage to keep the Tigers off the board.
Goldie Bougher would have another good half collecting 3 more saves to total 6 on the day and limited the high powered Drovers to 2 total goals.
"USAO is a well-coached and organized team. While they were deserving of the win it did not come without a fight. The girls showed a great deal of character and defensive discipline. This is particularly true with personal and tactical adjustments made in the run of play."
"The game showed the level that we want and are capable to play at. I am personally excited for the continued growth of the team and potential that I believe is still untapped! With that, KP and I are extremely proud of the team and the effort put forth. We specifically want to applaud those on the bench. While it is never easy to not receive playing time they were a 12 man and provided a positive spark from the sideline."
Tigers drop the conference preview against USAO, and will set their sights on Southwestern Christian University on October 23
rd.
Go Tigers!
