McPherson, KS – February 21, 2018 – Central Christian College's Qawtavis Johnson, a junior sprinter on the Tiger track and field team, was named this week's NCCAA and SAC track and field track athlete of the week. Johnson, originally from Holly Springs, Mississippi transferred to Central this year from Hinds Community College where he was a JUCO All-American last year.

Last week Johnson competed at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier recording two top 10 finishes in the 60m and the 200m sprint events. He finished 4^th in the 60 with a time of 6.82, the fastest NAIA time at the meet, and in the 200 he ran a 21.7 which was good enough for a 7^th place finish.

This season, Johnson's times in the 60 and the 200 have placed him 3^rd and 4^th in the NAIA and 1^st in both events in the NCCAA. He is an "A" Standard qualifier in both events at the NAIA Indoor National meet to be held at Pitt State University March 2-3.
