Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is no stranger to Central Christian College. Gardner played basketball at Central Christian College from 2001–2006, where he was known for his prolific outside shooting and perimeter defense. When knee injuries derailed his playing career during his junior season, Gardner found ways to continue contributing to the team from the sidelines. He eventually returned to the court to finish his career during the 2005–2006 season.

Originally from Golden City, Missouri, Gardner was a standout basketball and baseball player. He received both basketball and baseball scholarships to Central Christian College, but ultimately chose to play basketball.

Gardner graduated from Central Christian College in 2006 and immediately accepted a position as an assistant coach at Little River High School. After one season there, he took the head coaching position at Elyria Christian School in 2007.

In the fall of 2012, Gardner accepted a position at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, where he had the opportunity to learn from NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Rocky Lamar. During his time at MNU, the Pioneers advanced to the NAIA Division I Elite Eight, and Gardner also directed the university's JV program.

Gardner has also coached at Blue Valley Southwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas. In addition to his coaching experience, he has worked with Don Eddy Basketball, Heart of America Sports Camps, Fundamentally Driven Basketball, Snow Valley Basketball School, and MOKAN Basketball Club.

Coach Romero says, “Guy adds a wealth of experience, a balancing demeanor and change of pace to our program. Guy has a passion to recruit and develop young men.”

Gardner will serve as the director of opponent scouting and director of recruiting.

Gardner and his wife, Jayme (C'04), have two sons, Mason (16) and Axel (10). Jayme teaches high school English at Elyria Christian School.
