Scott Troutman

  • Title
    Goalkeeper Coach

Coach Troutman is entering his first season as the Goalkeeper Coach for both the men’s and women’s program, as well as the Assistant Coach of the women’s program. Coach Troutman is excited to be coming into the program, looking to bring what he has learned over the years from playing the beautiful game. “This is a dream come true for me, to be doing what I love at such a competitive level for a great program. I was ecstatic when I was offered the position, very grateful to be a part of Coach Hoxie’s staff and the Tiger program.”

Coach Troutman played high school soccer for four years at Denbigh Baptist Christian School under Coach Hoxie, also while in school he played travel soccer for the Virginia Rush. After high school he went on to play at Bluefield College. “Most of what I learned as a goalkeeper, I would like to give credit to my Virginia Rush Coach/Goalkeeper Coach Steve O’Neil who taught me many things about the game of soccer from using your feet, hands and the most important your mind.”

After returning from Bluefield, Coach Troutman went on to learn more about the game from the perspective of a referee’s point of view. He is a registered Grade 8 official who has worked as a center and a linesman for U-19 through U-9 for 3 years. Coach Troutman only began his coaching career just over a year ago at Smithfield Soccer Club, where he began coaching U-10 boys team. In his first season as the assistant coach the team went 2-4-2, coming into next season he was named head coach of team leading them to a perfect 8-0-0 undefeated season. Scott says, these were a

great group of boys. They came a long way from the first season learning and coming together as a group showing how competitive they can be. I will never forget those boys for they have taught me just as much as I taught them about the game to always have fun no matter what the competition is for. While at Smithfield Soccer Club, Coach Troutman also became the programs Goalkeeper coach.

He is the son of Scott and Pam Troutman, he also has a sister, Bailey.
