Matt Malone is entering his fifth season as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for Central Tiger’s program. In the past four seasons Coach Malone has had the opportunity to primarily manage the development squad and prepare the younger Tigers for success with the first team. Coach Malone also assists the first team in training, game day preparations, and in-game adjustments.
The 2021 season is going to be full of chances for this young squad. “Last year was full of so many team records and program firsts, this year’s team has the opportunity to build on those experiences and take it one step further.” Last year the development squad was able to achieve its first winning record in its history and some of the talent that helped to achieve that will look to positively impact the first team this year. With a significant number of the first team’s leadership and starters graduating last year it will a chance for some new faces to step up and make their mark on the program.
Matt Malone was a varsity player for the Tigers for four years, captaining the squad in his senior season and experienced post-season play in three out of his four years as a Tiger. “It is a privilege to be able to give back to the same program that taught me so much about the game and helped to shape me into the man I am today.”
Matt is married to his wife Shannon, who was a standout player for the Tigers Women’s Soccer team during her time at the college. He works as the Institutional Effectiveness Analyst for the college and is working towards his Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership.
