Coach Hoxie will begin his eleventh season at the helm of the Tiger program. This past season saw him emerge as the winningest coach in program history since becoming a four institution. While he was disappointed with how the season ended last year, his focus is on trying to take the current team to the next level while moving the “bar” forward. “Certainly how the season ended last year, in dubious circumstances, has left a foul taste on everyone’s mouth. However, the boys reacted very well and produced a very good spring season going undefeated and only conceding one goal. The coaching staff has done well in recruiting, so I think there is only optimism going forward. I think that our expectations need to change by thinking about ourselves differently. Not arrogantly, no, keep the same standards but we need to begin viewing who we are by forcing a change in the narrative.”
2022 will pose challenges that are not unique as the goal is to qualify for the National Championship each year. In order to do that, they will need to navigate a loaded Sooner Athletic Conference that consistently has schools ranked in the top 25 each year. “It’s always great to play top level teams, it feeds the ego. It’s grueling to say the least but we have gotten better and by our standards we should be able to progress up the table,” Coach Hoxie added.
